Cobra campaign - Sept 2008

Hi guys,

I would like to run a "campaign tournament" in ~~August~~ September+ in l'Antre Jeux on the Operation Cobra.
Near St Lô, in July 44, the 2. and 17. SS made some moves and launched several assaults to try to escape from the Roncey pocket.
Several kampfgruppe tried in several places during a couple of days but few germans were able to get themselves out of that bloody pocket.
Some players will play the SS (attacking) and others will play the US (defending).

- Players have the opportunity to select a saturday, in ~~August~~ September+, and a company to play (2nd SS or 2nd US [*]).
- ~~Max 4~~ 2 players per day on the ~~240x160~~ +/- 180*120 table in our shop.
- Scénario "Hold the line" with the US in defense
- Terrain will mainly show open ground, bocage, with few roads, woods and buildings
- Army size of ~~2000 pts~~ 1500 pts
- Night rules in effect
- And other special rules to be announced (a pdf will be downloadable)
[*] : Of course, the german player do not have to show an painted SS army, just a german army (played as SS), and an american player could show para teams (counted as regular teams). So, only the kind of unit must be shown (a PzIV is not a panther).

At the end of the month, we'll add all VP together to determine the winner side. There will be nothing to pay and nothing to win except the pleasure to meet other players for a game.

So... if you're interested, please reply this post and specify the date(s) and side(s) you want to play. There is no limit on the number of games you can play, and you can change side between games. In case of affluence, we'll just give priority to the player with the less number of games.

I'm interested ! I can play both sides (with some painting to do ...). I dunno when I can come, but I'll check here from time to time.

this sounds like a fun initiative. I'm definitely interested but cannot give a date at this moment. I will try to post a date in maximum 2 weeks from now.

Well, as we're in a hollyday season, we'll probably spread the playing time on August and September to allow a max of games to be played.

Also, the players should ask me a date at least 1 week before. For example, if you wanna play on 30 August, you'll have to reserve the table before Auhust 23th. Otherwise, the tables will be used for another game (or demo).

Well, we've played a scenario test with the options given : no way !
- 240x160 is cool but we need A LOT of bacage to recreate the reality
- 2000pts is too big to play such a scenario in about 4 hours

So, the first post is updated with the first modifications, but we'll still reconsider the whole thing. So, as we still need to work on the scenario and as it seem that July-August in a bad idea, the capaign will be postponed to september+... stay tuned.
